A daily embroidery and pencil work over 280 days, the approximate gestation of a human baby. Each square represents a day and each panel is approximately a trimester of pregnancy. In early postpartum, Stainman was interested in the arbitrariness of time. Through research she discovered a trimester is a legal demarcation of time, not biological. Each day, Stainman recorded an event or feeling through an embroidered or drawn gesture.
